Dramatic Rise in Patent Office Fees in the New Year

December 13th, 2012 by Christopher L. Holt

We heard unconfirmed news today that many official fees from the Patent Office will be drastically rising as of January 2013.

Originally planned to increase in October, it now seems these fees will actually change in January.

Among the Patent Office fees that’ll increase are the filing fees for new patent filings, as well as patent renewal fees.

While you may not be able to renew many patents in December, as you can’t pay renewal fees more than 30 days before the due date, you might be able to take advantage of our current patent filing fees yet this month. Consider working to push through patent filings before the end of the year, and save yourself a little cash come January.
